hi all!
so today i thought i'd run down quickly in my lunchbreak to check out an op-shop, as it's been weeks! usually i don't have much luck with this op-shop but today it wasn't too bad.
i've been obsessed with vintage cut-out books that i once saw at an art show - you take one vintage children's book with formidable storylines and lots of detailed glossy colourful and vibrantly placed subjectmatter and pictures and as you go past each page, you carefully stencil out most of the image and leave interesting things in the foreground, and build up with the page underneath, thus creating a new composition! (this particular one i saw had lovely mushrooms in the foreground as the story unravelled to encompass a magic forest!).
i unfortunately fail to find an adequate photo online to illustrate my point (it must be a lost art!), but hopefully one of these days i could make one myself and present you with it!
alas, it goes without saying the obsession showcases itself by my rummage through the book section of various op-shops an particularly the kids' section of the section. so far, nothing. i'm particular too, because i do want it to have a hardcover.
i did find these today, though, and just had to have them:-
love vintage books, it's interesting to see what people thought/ looked like/ bought/ did/ said back then.
till next time, i will leave you with what i wore today (well, not the ONLY thing, that would be a little strange...). this is in my quest to wear more vintage clothing every day! i am SO in love with brogues! what you see in the picture i think didn't even cost $10 if i remember correctly :)
till next op-shop lunchbreak! :)
